Birthmarks

Movement Theatre Quarterly
National Quarterly

FALL 1991

__As part of Towson State
University's inauguration of its
undergraduate movement theatre
concentration, Christopher Eaves
will present an interdisciplinary
work entitled 'Birthmarks.'

__Combining movement, spoken text,
dance, and song, 'Birthmarks' tells
the story of an adoptee's experience
growing up in America. 'Birthmarks'
combines documentary video footage
of rallies held in New York and
Washington by the Council for Equal
Rights in Adoption, with a narrative
of a teenage couple's decision to
surrender their child for adoption.

__Amidst these images,
the protagonist, "Duckie"
pursues the cradle of his
biological inheritance.

The music and sound design
is by Paul Mathews.

__
Mr. Eaves, an alumnus of Towson
State University, showcased his first
movement theatre work, 'Three' at
Movement Theatre International in
1989. He trained intensively and
toured with Margolis Brown Adaptors,
and currently serves as the artistic
associate to Donald Byrd/The Group.

__ Performance will be held 11-19
October 1991, and include new
ensemble works directed by
David Gaines, Tom Casciero, and
Christopher Eaves. 'Birthmarks'
premieres on Towson State
University's mainstage theatre
14-15 October 1991.
